What to expect at Eastern Otters
The basics of water polo
Each team has seven players in the water (six field players + one goalkeeper).
Teams can have substitutes who switch in and out.
You’re only allowed to use one hand to catch and throw the ball
The ball isn’t allowed to go underwater
Players are allowed to put pressure on the player that has the ball
Points are scored by throwing the ball past the goalkeeper and into the goal
All players wear water polo hats – these are to protect your ears and show which team you’re on
Never played before? Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered. We will teach you all the skills, starting with the basics and working up to the more advanced techniques.
